Every Monster Odysseus Faces in ‘The Odyssey’ & How They Differ From the Book
The Odyssey is not Christopher Nolan’s first story adaptation. Oppenheimer was based on the 2005 Pulitzer Prize-winning biography American Prometheus, and The Prestige was adapted from Christopher Priest’s 1995 novel of the same name. These films show how Nolan adapts pre-existing material, often being faithful while still taking liberties. He added some pep to American Prometheus, turning the biography into a tense, thrilling viewing experience. The Prestige also adapted the book’s dueling magicians, but omitted haunting elements such as Rupert Angier’s lingering spectral force.
