Although Zach Braff‘s career has seen him cast in many roles, both comedic and dramatic, Dr. John “JD” Dorian is still the actor’s seminal character. Maybe that’s because Scrubs constantly demands that Braff switch between zany irreverence and heartbreaking emotion, or maybe it’s because the show itself still has such a devoted following. JD is certainly the first role I ever saw Braff play, and I’m ecstatic to have him back shooting new episodes of the sitcom in the current revival. As aware as I am that Braff’s body of work goes far beyond Scrubs, I still find it pleasantly surprising when I’m watching something, and he unexpectedly appears.
