Tom Cruise is a unique figure in the world of cinema. He has made a massive cultural impact and is arguably one of the few actors whose name is enough of a draw to get people to theaters. He also does most of his own stunt work. His onscreen prowess came to my attention back when the first Mission: Impossible (1996) was released, and I would never have thought that, nearly 30 years later, he would still be pushing the action genre forward with Top Gun: Maverick (2022), one of the most technically stunning action movies ever made.
