There was a time when The Walking Dead was one of the biggest shows on television, and that briefly translated into immense success as a franchise when Fear the Walking Dead brought about the zombie saga’s first spin-off series. However, even though the Walking Dead universe is more sprawling than ever, there’s no denying that its once enormous following has dwindled over the years. AMC no longer seems content with this diminished fan base, as an upcoming installment looks purpose-built to return The Walking Dead to its glory days. Although there’s obviously a lot of zombie lore in the Walking Dead canon, it’s a franchise that has always been incredibly character-driven.
