When a new Spider-Man was announced after the end of Jon Watts’ trilogy with Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was exciting to hear that Destin Daniel Cretton was taking over directorial duties. The filmmaker rose to prominence with smaller independent productions before being recruited by Marvel Studios to helm Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. It ended up being one of the more well-regarded entries in The Multiverse Saga, with the subsequent titles not necessarily reaching the same critical heights as the superhero origin story. Now, with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Cretton has set his sights on telling a compelling Peter Parker story.
