Growing up in the 1990s, I caught some reruns of a famous and memorable Western TV series, and my imagination often ran wild. It was fascinating to get a glimpse of another time and to think about how people lived a long time ago. Sure, I was probably too young to truly grasp the traumas and tragedies that this family faced, along with the terrible realities of life in the 1870s, 1880s, and 1890s. Still, the stories were captivating, the young characters were relatable, and the setting was awe-inspiring.
