In the summer of 2022, I became enamored with a new TV show about a chef, his dream of opening a fancy restaurant, and his complicated family life. His co-workers, relatives, and friends were all richly drawn, fascinating people, and everyone’s raw emotions and vulnerabilities were often on full display. It didn’t hurt that the series had some fun cooking scenes and that the food was legitimately drool-worthy, or that the acting was impressive. The show also had one of the best soundtracks in recent memory.
