For as popular as Stephen King remains to this day, back in the ’80s, he arguably felt like even more of a dominating force in pop culture. This is likely due to the fact that there were fewer platforms for movies and TV shows, so there was less competition when it came to compelling tales of terror. That’s not to put down King’s efforts, of course, but while it now feels like we get multiple King adaptations a year, it’s hard for any one to stand out, as compared to a decade where each release felt like a major event.
