Going into 2026, I was excited to see what Star Trek had in store. After all, it’s the year that the franchise turns 60 years old. That’s quite the milestone. Sadly, as 2026 has progressed, it hasn’t been the thrill ride I’d hoped for. While I was one of the rare few who seemed to enjoy Starfleet Academy, the news about its cancellation put a damper on proceedings. There weren’t even any new shows announced to replace it, and Star Trek now finds itself with no series in active production for the first time in a decade. Some 60th-anniversary celebration, huh?
