Star Trek Finally Explains 38-Year-Old ‘The Next Generation’ Mystery

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4, Episode 7, “Like Chronitons Through the Hourglass”Star Trek: The Next Generation pulled the franchise into a new era, allowing long-serving Trekkies to witness the events of the 24th century while William Shatner’s James T. Kirk and company worked on wrapping up the Original Series branch of the space opera on the big screen. Although the adventures of the USS Enterprise-D did occasionally bring Patrick Stewart’s Captain Picard and his crew into contact with certain legacy characters like Spock (Leonard Nimoy), The Next Generation was treated as something of a soft reboot. It wasn’t the first Star Trek project to do this, and it certainly won’t be the last.
