Forget Gladiator, because Ridley Scott’s criminally underrated historical action thriller just landed on free streaming. Alongside his sci-fi masterpiecesAlien and Blade Runner (and maybe also The Martian), Ridley Scott was single-handedly responsible for reviving the sword-and-sandals epic with Gladiator. The Russell Crowe-led movie cemented Scott as one of the go-to directors for historical epics. While this hasn’t always paid off (see Napoleon for a prime example of a failure), in 2021 Scott released a truly underrated historical action thriller, and it’s now streaming for free.
