Director/writer Zach Cregger dove back into the horror genre hard this year, as he added a new chapter to the Resident Evil saga 30 years after the original video game was released. Led by Austin Abrams (who also hit big this year with Whalefall), the story centers on a medical courier named Brian who takes a high-paying job to deliver a mysterious package. From here, he learns of a massive viral outbreak and has to fight through mutated people, hybrid monsters, infected animals, and more to survive.
