One of the Most Disturbing Movies of All Time Getting a New Release
The threshold for just how intense a cinematic experience could be before audiences were too disturbed to actually sit through it has evolved over the years. After all, the 50-second short film L’Arrivée d’un train en gare de La Ciotat in which a train arrives at a station, initially frightened viewers in 1896, as they thought an actual train was coming towards them. Since then, a number of movies have become contenders for pushing boundaries like no other, including titles like The Exorcist, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Cannibal Holocaust, The Human Centipede, and, most recently, the Terrifier franchise.
