New City venue rethinks competitive socialising… again

The new Poolhouse venue in Liverpool Street

You barely need to leave the Square Mile these days to play sport, with so many iconic sporting games accounted for in the City in one way or another.

There’s axe throwing, darts, bowls, golf, and now the latest City competitive socialising launch is a new pool hall.

Poolhouse has been designed by the teams behind Topgolf and Puttshack and encompasses an enormous 21,500 square foot two floor venue in Liverpool Street.

There are twenty full-sized tables and the vibe blends the gritty pool hall of east and south-east London with “the iridescent, shimmering allure of vintage Las Vegas.”

The twenty pool tables are fitted with AI technology that can re-align your balls to help players out, should you so wish to take a little help with your game.

There’s art deco interiors as well as food and drink that can be eaten at-table or in designated bar areas.

Those include the Disco Pisco Sour, the Guinness Espresso Martini and Breakfast in Vegas with mezcal, sparkling wine and marmalade.

Food includes tacos, bao, skewered sticks and New York style pizza.

The City’s competitive socialising venues are huge drivers for the economy, given they don’t always need to obey restrictive licensing regulations like pubs.
