At this point, a haunted house story isn’t exactly groundbreaking. There will be jump scares, creepy closets and hallways, a spirit seeking revenge, and some characters who believe and others who think ghosts are fake. In 2018, a Netflixthriller changed all that, proving that there was some life left in this kind of story. It was a big success, and many still binge-watch it years later, particularly around the Halloween season.
