MCR Pursuing 1,000 New Miami Airport Hotel Rooms

MCR, owner of the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon, plans to add 1,000 hotel rooms by using space now used for surface parking. The idea is to build two 14-story buildings at 5101 Blue Lagoon Drive. Behar Font & Partners has been tapped to design the project.

Florida YIMBY reports the existing hotel would remain in operation while two hotels are being built nearby. Each new tower would include a sixth-floor pool deck and amenity areas overlooking Blue Lagoon. The expansion would be accompanied by the construction of a seven-story self-parking garage.

MCR acquired the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon property for $118.3 million in 2023. MCR operates a portfolio of approximately 150 hotels across 37 states, including the TWA Hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, The High Line Hotel in Manhattan, and the Pasadena Hotel & Pool in California.
