LendWell Signs Multi-Year AI Mortgage Deal with SPF Private Clients
LendWell, an Irish AI-native mortgage origination platform, has signed a multi-year agreement with SPF Private Clients, one of the UK’s larger independent mortgage and protection intermediaries. Implementation is already underway, with a full rollout scheduled for 2027. The company describes the deal as its most significant UK partnership to date.
SPF Private Clients, which employs more than 200 people and has been part of the Howden Group since 2022, will use LendWell’s platform across mortgage and protection case workflows. The technology is designed to handle document preparation, case follow-up and administrative coordination, using the context already present in a case to carry out defined tasks for adviser review. Professional responsibility for advice remains with SPF’s advisers; LendWell’s scope is the operational and administrative layer around those decisions.
What LendWell actually does

The platform’s commercial proposition targets a well-documented structural problem in mortgage broking: a substantial share of skilled adviser time is consumed by administration rather than client-facing work. LendWell extracts information from documents, calls and communications, links it to supporting evidence, and surfaces it within the case workflow for adviser sign-off. The aim is to increase throughput without a proportional increase in headcount.

Jamie Lawless, co-founder and chief executive of LendWell, said: “Mortgage technology has spent years digitising processes, but digitising manual work isn’t the same as removing it. Too much mortgage expertise is still consumed by administration. The aim isn’t to replace professional judgement, it’s to make better use of it.”
James Rodea, managing director at SPF Private Clients, said the firm was drawn to LendWell’s focus on reducing the work around advice while integrating with its existing systems, giving it flexibility to introduce the technology on its own terms.
Market context and regulatory considerations
The SPF agreement follows LendWell’s earlier deployment with Finance Solutions, the mortgage broking arm of Howden Ireland, described as Ireland’s largest mortgage broker. That live deployment gives LendWell a reference case in a regulated environment, which matters when selling into large UK intermediaries where risk appetite around new technology is directly shaped by FCA expectations on operational resilience and consumer outcomes under the Consumer Duty framework.
LendWell enters a UK mortgage technology market that has attracted meaningful investment, with platforms competing across origination, sourcing and post-sale servicing. The differentiated pitch here is AI applied to the case workflow itself rather than front-end comparison or lender connectivity. Several UK-based and US-originated mortgage workflow tools are pursuing adjacent ground, though the regulated intermediary segment remains less saturated than the direct-to-consumer channel.
The FCA’s Consumer Duty, which came into full effect in 2023 and extended to closed products in 2024, places a higher bar on intermediaries to demonstrate that advice processes serve client outcomes rather than operational convenience. AI tooling that demonstrably increases adviser capacity for client-facing work is broadly consistent with that regulatory direction, provided the audit trail for case decisions is clear and responsibility for advice remains unambiguously with the adviser. LendWell’s stated architecture, where AI prepares and coordinates while the adviser reviews and approves, is designed with that line in mind.
The next milestones to watch are the pace of the 2027 SPF rollout, any further UK intermediary signings, and whether LendWell moves toward FCA authorisation in its own right or continues to operate as a technology supplier within its clients’ regulated frameworks.
