A24’s groundbreaking new liminal horror movie Backrooms is already breaking box office records and has been well-received by critics and audiences alike. Originally based on a 4chan creepypasta that has evolved and expanded over the last few years, the feature film Backrooms was directed by 20-year-old filmmaker Kane Parsons, whose ultra-popular web series The Backrooms serves as a precursor and sort of companion project for the movie. The web series and movie both chronicle the accidental discovery and exploration of an extradimensional space known as the Complex, or the Backrooms, a mysterious, endless labyrinth of rooms that echo our own reality.
