In 1992, author Stephen E. Ambrose, known for his biographies of U.S. presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon, published a book about the WWII adventures of E Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. The author interviewed surviving veterans at a hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. His work was widely praised for accuracy. Years later, his book was adapted into the HBO war miniseries, Band of Brothers.
