There’s a theory in anime circles that the truly great series never actually end, they just go dormant between waves. Demon Slayer, for example, has proved it when compilation films kept the fandom at full boil through years without new episodes. The strategy only works when the underlying story has real staying power, though, because you can’t manufacture a resurgence for something audiences have quietly moved past.
