Investing in a lengthy TV series can be fun, but there’s something so enjoyable about working through a shorter one over the course of a weekend — and, unfortunately, that’s something the sci-fi genre doesn’t often allow for. In science fiction, stories tend to run long, requiring a decent number of episodes just to establish basic world-building. From there, there’s usually an ensemble to build on — and with shows like The Expanse or Fringe, the plot itself expands as well.
