Like any other genre, sci-fi has grown and changed through the decades. While some of its transformation has happened so gradually that it can’t be easily attributed to anything in particular, there are certain sci-fi projects so legendary and so influential that many of their spiritual successors can be traced directly back to them. Although sci-fi goes in and out of style as other genres enjoy their respective moments in the spotlight, high-concept storytelling involving space travel, aliens, the multiverse, and other exciting scientific principles has remained in demand for nerdy consumers like me around the world.
