Jake Gyllenhaal has been busy lately. He led Prime Video’s Road House remake, which became one of Amazon’s biggest movie debuts, and followed it with Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent, a legal thriller that was renewed for a second season before its finale even aired. His acclaimed Broadway turn opposite Denzel Washington in Othello and a Road House sequel in development only add to the sense that he’s in one of his most productive stretches in years. Still, for a certain kind of film fan, one of his most memorable roles remains the one he played from inside a squad car in 2012.
