Netflix has been under criticism since Matt Damon was on Joe Rogan’s podcast in January when he seemingly stated that the streamer asks filmmakers to restate the plot over and over. In an era of “second-screen” viewing, when many viewers may not watch with full attention, the quote quickly gained traction. Damon talked about his experience working with Netflix and The Rip, saying he heard that “We want people to stay tuned in. And it wouldn’t be terrible if you reiterated the plot three or four times in the dialogue because people are on their phones while they’re watching.”
