Matt Damon might be desperately fighting to get home in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (which is currently dominating at the box office), but in his underrated 2013 sci-fi action thriller, his battle was entirely different. Matt Damon’s sci-fi movies usually take over the pop culture landscape. Interstellar (also directed by Christopher Nolan) is often regarded as the greatest sci-fi movie of the 21st century, while The Martian (directed by Ridley Scott) brought Andy Weir’s sci-fi mind to the big screen nearly a decade before Project Hail Mary. But in 2013, Damon teamed up with one of the best sci-fi directors around and, despite the film being amazing, it drastically underperformed. However, it just touched down on streaming, so hopefully it will finally find its audience.
