New ‘Rocky’ Movie Hailed as One of the Year’s Best Crowd-Pleasers on Rotten Tomatoes
Movies about the making of movies can be a tricky sell, but I Play Rocky seems to be landing better than expected. Peter Farrelly’s film, which tells the story of Sylvester Stallone betting on himself to star in Rocky, opens in limited release today and has gotten off to a solid start with critics. It currently holds an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes, which suggests the response is shaping up quite well. A lot of the attention is also going to Anthony Ippolito, who leads the film after previously standing out as a young Al Pacino in The Offer — a performance Farrelly reportedly admired before realizing it was him.
