Duke Buys Discounted Durham Office Building

DUMAC, the investment division at Duke University, purchased Erwin Square Plaza for $30 million. The seller, Lionstone Investments, paid $57 million for the property in 2015, the last time it sold. It was built in 1989.

Duke University is the anchor tenant, occupying 80% of the 238,792-square-foot building. The Triangle Business Journal reports the building is fully leased.

Duke University signed a 10-year extension of its current lease with options to renew. It has 191,864 square feet of space for Duke Credit Union, offices for research administration, research support and sponsored programs, personal assistance service, and Duke University Health System administrative offices.

The building has a courtyard, fitness center and four restaurants. Local 22 Kitchen and Bar, Guasaca South American Grill, Shuckin Shack and Parizade are on the ground floor.

Erwin Square Plaza sits on 7.42 acres at 2200 W. Main St.
