Netflix has done an excellent job of expanding its catalog not just with original content, but also adaptations of novels. Projects like The Lincoln Lawyer and the streaming service’s Harlan Coben collection show that books offer plenty of rich material to mine, especially those part of a larger series. One recent example is East of Eden, the limited series starring Florence Pugh, based on the classic novel of the same name, which received positive reviews upon release. However, not all of Netflix’s adaptations are based on classic literature; its latest project is based on a contemporary crime novel that could run for multiple seasons.
