A film adaptation of Mistborn is a long time coming, and Brandon Sanderson’s fantasy book is the ideal candidate for the big screen. That’s because Sanderson’s novels tend to be very cinematic. The high-stakes drama, frequent action, and major plot twists all lend themselves to this format. Mistborn features many examples of those strengths, making it the smartest place for Apple TV’s Cosmere to start. However, the movie will need to break the most important rule of Sanderson books to reach a mainstream audience.
