‘Street Fighter’ is a Non-Stop Martial Arts Reboot That Forgets Its Own Tournament | Review
Before a single punch is thrown, Capcom’s Street Fighter reboot pulls off something unexpected. It opens on an animated prologue that carries the backstory and exposition on its own. Surprisingly, the movie shifts between live-action bombast and hand-drawn anime sequences. For those first few minutes, the aesthetic suggests a movie with more hidden gems up its sleeve. Then the on-camera film begins, and Street Fighter settles into the rhythm it persists for the rest of its runtime: set the scene, characters argue, then fight, then move on to the next one.
