Despite initial skepticism about the DCU-set series before it debuted, Lanterns has proven a big hit for HBO with critics and audiences alike. The series sits at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and quickly became a mainstay in the Top 10 of HBO Max for weeks after its debut. Still, the show’s future has been a topic of much debate. Because Lanterns is part of a shared universe, that means the story doesn’t necessarily have to continue in a traditional follow-up season of television. It’s just as possible that a DCU movie could pick up where Lantern Season 1 leaves off.
