It was recently reported that Alan Ritchson, star of Reacher and WarMachine, was set to lead the adaptation of the popular video game Helldivers. Released in 2015, Helldivers is a sci-fi video game that follows an elite military force defending a satirical, ultranationalist futuristic society from alien creatures, and it has been compared to properties ranging from Halo to Starship Troopers. Shortly after Helldivers 2 was released in 2023, Sony Pictures began developing a feature film adaptation, and the studio has now set a summer release date.
