AegisClear Builds Digital Asset Custody ails for Taiwan’s AAMC push

AegisClear, a Taiwan-based digital asset technology platform, has plans to expand its tokenisation and stablecoin-related settlement and custody capabilities in support of Taiwan’s Asian Asset Management Centre (AAMC) initiative. The company provides institutional-grade on-chain delivery-versus-payment (DvP) functionality through a unified custody infrastructure compatible with both public and private blockchains.

Co-founder Serra Wei said the company aims to connect traditional financial assets, digital assets and stablecoin-related technologies to give institutions “efficient, transparent and interoperable infrastructure for custody and settlement.” AegisClear said it is monitoring Taiwan’s developing virtual asset regulatory framework and intends to assess applicable licensing or registration requirements once application mechanisms are available.

The infrastructure play

The core product proposition centres on DvP settlement, a well-established institutional requirement that reduces counterparty risk by ensuring asset transfer and payment occur simultaneously. Applying that workflow to tokenised assets on-chain addresses a genuine friction point for institutions entering digital asset markets, where settlement finality and custody standards have historically lagged those of traditional securities infrastructure.

AegisClear is also establishing what it calls a Sandbox Hub, a company-operated demonstration and testing environment through which financial institutions can explore digital asset issuance, custody and settlement solutions via in-person demonstrations and an online portal. The company was explicit that this facility is not a government-authorised regulatory sandbox, a clarification that carries weight in a market where regulatory perimeters around virtual asset testing environments remain fluid.

The firm sits within a broader Aegis Group ecosystem that includes Aegis Trust Company in the United States and DACC.HK in Hong Kong, the latter focused on digital asset settlement and cross-border fintech applications including digital bonds, stablecoins and CBDCs.

Market and regulatory context

Taiwan’s positioning as the fourth largest stock market in Asia by capitalisation, with a market cap reported to exceed five trillion US dollars, gives the AAMC initiative commercial substance. The government’s parallel development of a virtual asset regulatory framework places it broadly in line with moves across the Asia-Pacific region, where Singapore’s MAS, Hong Kong’s SFC and Japan’s FSA have each advanced licensing regimes for digital asset service providers over the past two years.

The tokenised real-world asset (RWA) segment is attracting growing institutional interest globally, with fixed-income instruments, funds and trade finance among the asset classes most actively being placed on-chain. AegisClear’s engagement with the Kaohsiung Fintech Innovation Park to explore tokenised RWA applications for green finance products adds a sustainability angle, though the company did not disclose specific products, counterparties or a timeline for those initiatives.

The competitive field for institutional digital asset custody and settlement infrastructure is active. Established custodians, bank-affiliated digital asset units and specialist infrastructure providers are all pursuing the same institutional client base. AegisClear’s differentiator, at least as stated, is multi-chain interoperability and the DvP workflow rather than custody scale alone. How that positions the company against larger incumbents will depend substantially on the licensing path it secures under Taiwan’s forthcoming framework.

AegisClear has also been selected for the 2026 Taiwan Women’s Entrepreneurship Academy, organised by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, a recognition that adds visibility without altering the commercial story.
