8 Near-Perfect Cop Thrillers Better Than ‘The Rookie’
I genuinely like how The Rookie has made cop thrillers more accessible and easier to binge. Nathan Fillion is extremely charming, the storylines move fast, and ABC picked it up for a ninth season because it still pulls more than 8 million viewers a week across platforms. That’s a real accomplishment for a network procedural in 2026. But it’s also one of those shows that resets the stakes of the story by the end credits. Nobody remains fired, and the department is basically a workplace sitcom with guns.
