Star Trek is now officially 60 years old, as CTV aired the first Original Series episode on September 6, 1966. Although the show that started it all wrestled with cancellation, it was eventually given the opportunity to wrap things up via The Animated Series and a string of six feature-length films. As the franchise has progressed, more and more spin-offs have materialized, fleshing out the canon to create what is now one of the most detailed sci-fi universes of all time.
