Netflix’s New Epic Fantasy Saga Will Rewrite the Rules of Streaming
Since Netflix began producing and distributing its own feature films, the streaming platform has mostly steered clear of the theatrical release market. Aside from limited releases in select theaters to qualify for Academy Awards runs, Netflix has largely avoided wide theatrical rollouts. Even after KPop Demon Hunters became the No. 1 movie at the box office, Netflix has shown little interest in putting its movies in theaters before they’re available to stream. Yet the streamer is about to rewrite its own rules in 2027 with the release of Greta Gerwig’sNarnia: The Magician’s Nephew.
