ON THE MOVE: Gareth Morris Joins SimCorp One; MFA Names Zach Gates as VP U.S. Government Affairs

  

Gareth Morris

Gareth Morris has been appointed Head of Portfolio Management and Trading at SimCorp One, according to a press release. He joined SimCorp from BlackRock, where he spent 16 years in the Aladdin business, most recently as Managing Director and Global Head of Product for Aladdin Portfolio Management. In addition, Kate Ryan has joined as Head of Product Design. Ryan joins SimCorp from S&P Global, where she served as Head of Product Design and Performance for Enterprise Solutions. Both leaders report to Iyan Adewuya, Chief Product Officer at SimCorp.

Managed Funds Association (MFA), has announced that Zach Gates has joined the association as Vice President, U.S. Government Affairs. Prior to joining MFA, Gates spent nearly a decade in the House of Representatives working on U.S. capital markets and financial services policy. As Staff Director of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, he advised Republican members on securities regulation, capital formation, market structure, investment management, and corporate governance.

Laurent Van Hassel

Laurent Van Hassel shared on LinkedIn that he’s starting a new position as Head of Trading at Dragonarch Partners LP, based in New York. Van Hassel brings more than 15 years of trading experience spanning global equities, futures, commodities, options, ETFs and foreign exchange. Most recently, he served as Senior Trader at BHS Advisors, part of Brookfield Asset Management, where he was responsible for portfolio coverage and execution across several investment strategies, including generalist, alpha capture, short-alpha, technology, media and telecommunications, and healthcare.

Northern Trust Asset Management has appointed Amy Johnston as Head of the Global Institutional Client Group. According to a press release, Johnston has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, with expertise in sales and distribution strategy across institutional and intermediary clients. Previously, she spent 14 years with State Street Investment Management in the United States and Australia, most recently as Managing Director and Head of Distribution Strategy for the Americas Institutional Client Group. She has also held distribution roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, Perennial Investment Partners and Merrill Lynch.

The Board of Directors of the Council of Institutional Investors (CII) has announced that Glenn Davis, previously serving as Interim Executive Director, has been appointed Executive Director. According to a press release, Davis brings more than 25 years of experience in investor protection, corporate governance, and proxy voting matters. He served for eight years as CII’s Research Director, working with CII’s board to develop member-approved recommendations on corporate disclosure and governance practices.

Apex Group has appointed Nick Tomadakis as Chief Product Officer, according to a press release. Tomadakis joins Apex Group with more than 20 years of experience leading product strategy, innovation and digital transformation across global financial institutions and fintech businesses. He has held senior fintech product leadership roles at Rakuten Viber, Revolut, Barclays and Visa Europe, and most recently served as Chief Product & Growth Officer at DCM Systems.

Multifonds has appointed R.G. Manalac as President, according to a press release. Manalac joins Multifonds with a strong track record in financial technology and capital markets. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Technology for Asia Pacific at Nasdaq, where he led client engagement across the region. Prior to Nasdaq, Manalac held executive roles at several leading financial technology firms, including Calypso and Adenza, where he built and led the APAC program.
