I don’t think there’s a bad place to start with Jack Reacher, but there are definitely better places. Lee Child has written nearly 30 Reacher novels; Andrew Child has continued the series, and a 31st book, called Chain Reaction, will be published in October 2026. Prime Video has introduced an entirely new generation of readers to a character who has been wandering across America with nothing but an attitude and a toothbrush since 1997. Every time a new season drops, I see the same question pop up: Which Jack Reacher book should I read next? The answer changes depending on who’s asking. Some people want a clever mystery; others just want Reacher doing what he does best.
