‘Mortal Kombat 2’ Suffers Box Office Fatality as It’s Beaten by New 97% Rated Action Epic
The reception towards Mortal Kombat II was overwhelmingly positive, with both critics and audiences awarding it Certified Fresh scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, that acclaim did not translate into commercial success, primarily because it competed with box-office juggernauts. Mortal Kombat II was arguably the most faithful adaptation of the video games to date, but the franchise’s future is now uncertain. A major contender has also entered the ring and beaten the sequel.
